Lieutenant Matthew Rust served with Loudoun County, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Matthew Rust is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A098601.

Matthew Rust was born around 1758 in Westmoreland County, Virginia.[1] He was a son of Wlliam Rust and his wife Monica (maiden name unknown).[2]

On 14 Jun 1774, Matthew was one of the men who signed the patriotic resolutions adopted by the citizens of Loudoun County, Virginia.[3] On 2 Oct 1780, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant of Loudoun County Militia.[4]

On 7 Jul 1791, Matthew married Martha Triplett, daughter of Colonel Simon Triplett.[2][1] The children of Matthew and Martha Rust were:[2]

  3. Mandley Taylor
  4. Sophenia
  5. Matthew Harrison, b. 8 Jul 1798
  6. Elizabeth Baker

Matthew Rust passed away before 1830 in Loudoun County, Virginia.[1]
