Elspet died as Elspet Rust the widow of Charles Swap and it is as Rust that she is recorded on the burial register so that is her last known name. This follows the practice in Scotland of the wife retaining her maiden name and scrutiny of any old gravestones in a Scottish kirkyard will confirm this. It is also genealogy good practice to record a woman by her birthname. Wikitree are out of step with the rest of the genealogy world in this respect.

Hi Jackie I have three possible candidates for Elspet Rust the second wife of Charles Swap and three possible fathers. The first is Elspet born and baptised 1744 at Drumoak, father William Rust. The second is Elspet born and baptised 1748 at Drumoak, father John Rust. This is the one who appears in my tree but I am coming round to thinking that the third Elspet born and baptised 1763 at Kincardine O'Neil may be the most likely. Her father was also a William Rust. I have the baptismal OPR of all three but it was because of my uncertainty that no father is given in the tree. Where did you get Alexander as the father?
