Biography
Peter was born in 1760. He married Miriam Sanford in 1785 in MD.[1]
According to Peter's military pension application (1844) he was apprenticed, about 1776, but ran away and joined the militia and served in the Revolutionary war for six months. He served as a private in Colonel Aquila Hall's Baltimore County Regiment, 1777. His muster list is found in the Maryland Archives . He again served about 1780 when Baltimore was threatened.
He is listed in the 1790 census in Mine Run hundred, as are several other Rutledges. By 1810 he is in Harrison County, Kentucky with his wife Miriam and after her death and around 1816 he married Ruth Robinson.
In the 1840 census, Peter was in Ripley, Indiana.[2]
Peter had 8 known children by Miriam and 4 by Ruth.
Peter died on 29 May 1844 and was buried in Benham Church Cemetery, Benham, Ripley County, Indiana, United States.[3]
