Salome (Sarah or Sally) Rutledge was born about 1848 in Alabama, United States.[1] (about 1846 per 1900 census,[2] about 1837 per death certificate[3] )
Her birth name was Rutledge, confirmed by records for her children.[4] Her death certificate lists her mother as Nancy Rutledge.[3]
In the 1860 US census, Sarah Rutledge, age 12, born Alabama, was living in Hidalgo, Texas, with parents Abram Rutledge (38) and Nancy Jackson (29), and with siblings Harriet, Manuel, Nancy Ann, Isaac, Martha Jane, Louis, and Robert, and with James Galbert.[1]
She married Gavino Garcia about 1882.[2][3]
In the 1900 US census, Solomay Garcia, age 54, was living in Hidalgo, Texas, with husband Gavino Garcia, 45, children Rosalia Garcia (age 17, born 1883) and Celso Garcia (15), and with Stella Rutledge (0) and Juan Balboa (30).[2]
Sarah R V De Garcia, born about 1837, died on 30 Aug 1937 in Hidalgo, Texas, United States.[3]
There are also records for Salome Rutledge, born on 22 Jul 1890. Died in 1982 in Hidalgo, Texas, United States.[5][6] This is a different person as she could not be the mother of Rosalia Garcia born 1883.
