Biography

Robert, the eldest son of Dr. Allan Ruttan and Carrie Smith, was born in Napanee, Ontario, in 1856. Although he qualified as a medical doctor, he never practiced. He became a professor of chemistry at McGill University. In 1924 he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at McGill. He died in 1930.[1]
