According to family stories, Annie came from Wexford (in Ireland) and travelled to Australia independently to work as a governess. She married George Hunt and had 10 children. According to letters written by her daughter, Hannah Crowley, to Hannah's son Dan when he was serving in the first world war, Annie was living alone and growing (and harvesting) her own produce on a property in Bell, Queensland, Australia at the age of 70 .
