Biography

Stephen was born in about 1784 in Glocester, Providence, Rhode Island, United States. He was the son of Richard Salisbury and Prudence (UNKNOWN) Salisbury.[1] Stephan served in the War of 1812, 157 NY Regt. and was paid $75.00 for his service.

In 1820 Stephen (age about 36) was living in Western, Oneida, New York, United States.[2]

In 1850 Stephen (age about 66) was living in Western, Oneida, New York, United States.[3]

In 1860 Stephen (age about 76) was living in Western, Oneida, New York, United States.[4]

In 1870 Stephen (age about 86) was living in Western, Oneida, New York, United States.[1]

Will: 4 June 1870 in Lee, Oneida, New York, United States. Note: Notes from Will event: "In the name of God, Amen. I Stephen Salisbury, of the town of Lee, Oneida County, and State of New York, of the age of eighty-five years, and being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish, and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say. First. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah S. Dunn, my house and lot situated at Lee Corners, in the town of Lee in said county of Oneida and all my household furniture and effects to have and to hold the same for her own use and benefit forever and absolutely and also the sum of two hundred dollars in money to be paid to her by my son, Napoleon B. Salisbury, and to be paid within two years after my decease, and to draw interest from and after the date of this will, and the interest on said amount to be paid annually reckoning from this date. Second. I give and bequeath to my son, Napoleon B. Salisbury, all my interest in the real estate which I hold by contract situated in the town of Marcy in the county of Oneida aforesaid consisting of a hotel and about fourteen acres of land subject to the incumbrances thereon and subject to the payment of the legacy above mentioned to my daughter, Sarah S., to have and to hold the same during his natural life and after his decease the same to belong to and be the property of the legal heirs of my said son, Napoleon S. Salisbury and as the law in such case made and provided may determine. Third. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Prudence O. Williams, and my daughter Chloe Casmoross, [Carnoross or Camorris?] and to the children of my son, George W. Salisbury, each the sum of one dollar to be due and payable at the expiration of one year from the date of my decease. Lastly, I nominate my daughter, Sarah S. Dunn, and Juline H. Sly executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy. Stephen (his mark) Salisbury"[1][5]
