William Sallee Sr. performed Patriotic Service in Virginia in the American Revolution.

William Sallee Sr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A210114.

Guillume "William" Sallee was born on February 20, 1705, in Henrico County, Virginia to Olive Olympia Perrault, age 30, and Abraham Sallee, age 30. He died on February 15, 1789, in Buckingham County, Virginia, age 83 years.

William married twice:

First to Elizabeth circa 1727 who may have been the daughter of Antoine Gevedon. William and Elizabeth had at least 5 children, including:

  • Elizabeth Sallee, born 4 July 1728, godfather Thomas Girodan, godmother Olive Malet.
  • Elizabeth Sallee, born 21 February 1729, godfather Issac Sallee, godmother Magdelaine Sallee and Elizabet Lesueur;
  • Guillieaume Sallee, born 17 April 1732, godfather David Leseur and Estienne Mallet, godmother Olive Malet;
  • Guillieaume Sallee, born 8 May 1734, godfather David Lesueur, godmother Sara Porter;
  • Issac Sallee, born 27 July 1739, godfather Estienne Mallet, godmother Anne David.

Secondly to Mary/Marie Magdelaine Chastain, born circa 1720, they married circa 1740, Magdelaine was the daughter of Dr Pierre Chastain and Anne Soblet.,William and Magdelaine had 8 children:

  • Isaac Sallee, born 22 April 1741, godfather Jean Chastain, godmother Charlote Chastain;
  • Pierre Sallee, born 13 July 1743
  • Jean Sallee, born 2 November 1745, godfather Abraham Sallee and Jean Chastain the younger, and godmother Elizabeth Le Sueur;
  • Oliver C. Sallee, a son born on 5 November, 1749;
  • Jacob Sallee, born circa 1751;
  • Abraham Sallee, born circa 175-;
  • George Sallee, born circa 175- or 176-;
  • Stephen Sallee, born circa 1764, aged 86, Madison Co, Kentucky 1850 Census.

William also fathered the following children (mother unknown): a black girl named Anna was born 8 January 1731 to Guilieaume Salle; a black girl named Mall was born 4 February 1732 [1733] to Guilieaume Salle; a little black girl named Sarra to Guiliaume Salle; a black girl named Dorotie was born on 28 April 1739 to Guilieaume Salle; a black girl named Fillis was born on 28 May 1739 to Guilieaume Salle; a black girl named Moll was born 20 February 1741 [1742] to Guiliaume Salle; a black girl named Nanney was born 6 April 1741 [1742] to Guiliaume Salle; Marriage 1740 King William, Goochland, Virginia. Child: William Guillume Salle. Marriage ABT 1699. St Catherine's by the Tower, London England.

William Salle patented 1200 acres in Goochland on 12 January 1746/7 and this land was included in a patent of 1978 acres in Albemarle County on 12 May 1759."William Sale of the Parish of St Anns in the County Of Albemarle" sold his realty in King William Parish Cumberland County, Virginia in Mary 1750."William Sallie, Senior" advertised land for sale in 1771 the County of Buckingham (divided from Albemarle in 1762)."William Sally Senr" was taxed in Buckingham on land in 1782, and on personalty each year from 1782 until 1789, after which in 1790 "Wm Sallee Estt" was taxed.

William Salle/ Sallee died 15 February 1789, Buckingham Co, Va.

Magdelaine, William's widow (2nd wife) survived him and was last recorded on the reality lists in 1803.

Settlement Feb 3, 1727: On south side of James River on Jones Creek in King William Parish, bounded as by patent to Thomas March 24,1725 Purchased for 500 shillings 200 acre tract of land from "Anthony Geavodan" Thomas, who had inherited from his father his share of the lands distributed to the French refugees. Patent to Thomas March 24, 1725.
