Daniel Salter, son of above Ebenezer Salter and Rebecca Stillwell was one of first settlers at Fayetteville. He was an inn keeper of Black Horse and owned lots of land on Staton Island, New York, and in New Jersey. When the British came to Staton Island they billeted themselves upon him and made way with most of his movable property. He was a constable in 1784 on Staton Island. He removed to Bergen Co., N. Jersey, which was the included in Hudson Co. He married a Miss Ellis by who he had the following children: John, Ebenezer, David and Richard. He married (2) Patience Headdy or Hadden by which he had William, Amos and Joseph.
