Biography

Silas played the violin. He married Addie Fidelia Dodge, his first cousin. Addie's mother, Martha Preston Dodge, was a sister to Silas's mother, Mary Preston Salter. Silas and Addie were married in a double wedding ceremony on the 23 day of November, 1898. Silas married Addie and his brother Jim married Olivia. "Silas passed away in Portland, OR, age 72 years. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 1945 from the lone Church of Christ, with Phelps Funeral Home in charge. Interment will be made in the Heppner Masonic Cemetery."
