Biography

Cornelia aka as Nelius was born on January 15, 1870, in Kentucky, the daughter of Wiley Saylor and Melissa Cole.

As a young girl, she appeared in census records as a 9-year-old living with Malissa Cole in Magisterial District 4 Meadows, in Magoffin, Kentucky. Cornelia later married Wilson Howard, a man 18 years her senior, on June 13, 1891, in Breathitt, Kentucky. She was 22 years old at the time.

By the turn of the century, Cornelia and Wilson were living in Magisterial District 7 Springfork, in Breathitt, Kentucky. She was 29 years old and her husband was 53. In 1910, Cornelia and Wilson were recorded living in Lakeville, Magoffin, Kentucky. She was 44 years old, and Wilson was 54.

After Wilson passed away, Cornelia was listed as a 47-year-old widowed head of household in the 1920 census, living in Lakeville, Magoffin, Kentucky. She remarried, this time to Lee Noe, on January 16, 1914, in Magoffin, Kentucky.

Cornelia passed away on October 23, 1921, and was buried in Magoffin, Kentucky.
