Hannah, the second daughter of Henry and Ann (Plummer) Samson, was born in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony about 1642. [1] Hannah grew up in Duxbury with eight siblings and on March 20, 1665/6, she married there Josiah Holmes, son of William and Elizabeth Holmes. [1][2] Hannah and Josiah had 6 children, all born in Duxbury.
On May 20, 1675, Hannah was deeded land by her father, Henry[1] The Duxbury land, about forty acres in a place called Robinson's Creek, had been given by grant to Henry by the town of Duxbury.[3]
The Holmes family may have lived in the Marshfield area around 1696 as Josiah was a member of the First Church of Marshfield at that time.[1] The family relocated to Pembroke sometime before 1713 as Josiah Holmes of Pembroke deeded land to his son William, also of Pembroke on May 13, 1713.[1]
Hannah Holmes passed away on January 9, 1715, in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[4][5]
The children of Hannah and Josiah Holmes all born in Duxbury were:
William, born January 18, 1679/80 [1] The printed Duxbury records list this as 1679.[6] but because of the proximity of John's birth in May 1678, it can be determined to be 1679/80.
