Biography

Dorcas, daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (unknown) Samson, was probably born at Duxbury, MA. She is a descendant of Mayflower passenger HENRY SAMSON.

She married first John, son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Drew) Plumbly, at Mendon, MA on April 15, 1723. The records states they were both of Mendon. It is likely that she moved there with her sister, Elizabeth, when she married Jonathan Thayer. Dorcas and John had one child, a daughter named Dorcas born in 1724. They is no further record and she wasn't named in her fathers will so she probably died young. They obviously removed to Upton, MA as some point as John died there on July 11, 1740.

Dorcas married second Jonathan, son of Stephen and Hannah (Dickinson) (Gillett) Jennings. They married at Upton on January 11, 1742. He was of Brookfield, MA and that's were they resided until Jonathan's death on July 19, 1754. They had no issue.

She married third Daniel Snow of Leicester, MA on May 18, 1758 at Brookfield.

Dorcas died 19 Feb 1778 in Shelburne, Massachusetts.[1][2] Her will was probated in Hampshire County. In her will dated 9 February 1778, she names, kinswoman Zilpha Aldridge, kinsman Elijah Tyler, cousin Hannah Nelson (children of her deceased sister Hannah Tyler; children of her beloved sister Mary Thayer, sister Elizabeth Thayer, well-beloved sister Abigail Bruce?, kinswoman Dorcas Fiske. She names Ebenezer Fisk, husband of Dorcas Fisk as executor of her estate. [3] ------------------------------------------
