Biography

John Sanborn is the son of Richard Sanborn (1655 - 1716) and Ruth (Moulton) Sanborn (1659 - 1685), of North Hampton, Rockingham county, New Hampshire. According to Chapman, John died September 3, 1727, at the age of 47[1]

On August 8, 1701, John married Sarah Philbrick, daughter of Captain James Philbrick and Hannah (Perkins) Philbrick, born June 11, 1682. [2]

Sarah (Philbrick) Sanborn was born in 1683, and died May 30, 1761 [3] After John's death, Sarah married, about 1731, to Lieutnant Thomas Rawlins of Stratham, with whom she lived 27 years.

The middle of Benjamin seems highly suspect. Very few people had middle names during this era. The only "source" for this name is apparently FindAGrave. Please post a reply if you have better evidence.

The date of death for this profile is that of his wife, Sarah Philbrick. See her obituary, she survived her husband and married Thomas Rawlins.

GDMNH gives his date of death as 3 Sept. 1727. Whether this is the exact date of death or not, he made his will on 18 Aug. 1727 and his widow married Thomas Rawlins c. 1731. Thus the 1761 date is impossible.
