He initially traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with his mother and siblings in 1850 with the Warren Foote Company, Amanda Armstrong Faucett Sanders (Age: 40), Martha Brown Sanders (Age: 17), Joseph Moroni Sanders (Age: 13) and Emma Sanders (Age: 10). Several years later, in 1863 he crossed the plains again, this time as a captain of his own out-and-back company (John F. Sanders Company).
He passed away in 1896 in the Arizona Territory and is buried in the City of Mesa Cemetery, Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona.[1] Find A Grave has a photo of his headstone and house. There is also an extensive history of the family in his bio.
