Biography

Rufus Sanders is a Military Veteran.
Served in the American Civil War

Rufus was born October 26, 1836 .

He enlisted as a Private on March 15, 1861 at LaFayette Alabama in the 7th Alabama, LaFayette Guards. He continued service until 1862, discharged at Tuscambia Alabama. He reenlisted at Rome, Georgia in Company I, 8th Confederate Calvary and continued until paroled on June 1. 1865. [1]

He married Almedia Aycock on January 2, 1869 in Chambers County. [2]

He died, at the age of 77, on August 3, 1914 in Chambers County, Alabama.[3] He is buried at the Sanders Cemetery, Chambers County, Alabama.[4]

His obituary and headstone state his date of death as August 3, 1914. His death record states it as August 4, 1914
