Elizabeth Sanford, daughter of Encome Sanford and Sarah Clarke, was born about 1757 at Newport, Rhode Island and died in Nova Scotia, 7 Nov 1833. She married Edward Burgess, son of Benjamin Burgess and Hannah Church, who was born in 1756. They married at Newport, Nova Scotia in 1781.[1] Edward died at Newport 20 Feb 1843.[2]

Under their father Benjamin Burgess’ will dated 2 Jul 1825 and proved at Windsor, Nova Scotia 26 Apr 1834, each of sons John and Edward inherited half the farm adjacent to “the Slocum lot”.[5]
