Biography

Amos was born 18 Oct 1733 in Newtown Township, Fairfield, Connecticut, the son of Samuel Sanford and Hannah Gillett, aka Gilbert.^[1]

He married Mary Clugston (aka Cluckstone and other variations), the daughter of John Clugston, on 13 Jan 1757. They moved to Sharon in 1768.^[2] They had 11 children: David,^[3] Betsey,^[4] Caleb,^[5] Ezra,^[6] Samuel,^[7] John,^[8] Annis,^[9] Solomon, Polly,^[10] Amos,^[11] and Gordon.^[12]

He died 09 Dec 1777 in Ellsworth, Connecticut and is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut.

His property was distributed on 6 Oct 1789.^[13]
