Research Notes
Esther's mother, Hannah Baldwin was the daughter of Nathaniel, a weaver by trade and Hannah (Botsford) Baldwin. Hannah had a sister, Ester Baldwin (b. 25 May1683), who married a Samuel Sanford of Newtown, Connecticut. Hannah's husband, Samuel "Enos" Sanford remained in Milford. It is likely that the Esther of this profile was named for her Aunt Ester.[7]
In April 1731, Samuel Bristol purchased land from his father-in-law, Samuel Enos Sanford, in "Squabbling Hill" Milford, and some of his descendants were still living there as of 1914. He served in the French and Indian War. In 1742, he and others petitioned for permission to build an Episcopal congregation in Milford.
