Joseph Sargent aka Sargeant was born April 18, 1663 in Barnstable, Massachusetts the first child of John Sargent and Deborah Hillier also of Barnstable. [1] Joseph's father John Sargent inherited the Barnstable property from his father William Sargent (1602-1682).
In 1685 Joseph married Mary Green born Dec. 1668. She was the daughter of John Green who resided in Malden and Charlestown, Massachusetts. [1] Their children were all born at Malden:

5. Sarah, b. 30 October 1695 [2]; m. 3 Dec 1713, Samuel Newhall; d. 17 Nov 1740
6. John, b. 10 Jun 1698 [2]; m. 25 May 1721, Malden/Medford, Mass., Sarah Dexter, b. 6 Apr 1699, d. 3 Aug 1759, dau. of Richard; resided at Malden; d. 20 Nov 1760
7. Deborah, b.13 August 1701[2]; m. Uriah Oakes; d. 20 May 1764
8. Samuel, b. 1 Mar 1703/4 [2]; m. Elizabeth Pratt b. 6 Mar 1708, Malden, d. 20 Oct 1781, Stow, dau of Joseph Pratt; they resided at Stow, Massachusetts; d. 20 Nov 1791
9. Nathan, b. 12 Sep 1706 [2]; m. 29 May 1729, Mary Viall, b. 23 Aug 1711, d. 9 Sep 1795, dau. of Nathaniel; resided at Chelsea; d. 15 Mar 1774.
10. Elizabeth, b. 5 Dec 1710 [2]; m. 7 Nov 1734, Ebenezer Barrett; d. 11 Feb 1769
At "age 54 years, 7 months" Joseph died 27 Nov 1717 at Malden, Middlesex county, Massachusetts.[4]
