Francis Williams Sargent was an American politician who served as the 64th governor of Massachusetts from 1969 to 1975. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the 63rd lieutenant governor of Massachusetts from 1967 to 1971. Francis Williams Sargent was born on July 29, 1915 in Hamilton, Essex, Massachusetts, United States, son of Francis Williams Sargent (1884–1919) and Margery Lee (1894– ).[1]
He married Jessie Fay, daughter of Edward and Jessie Merriam Fay.
They had three children.
Francis died on October 21, 1998 in Dover, Norfolk, Massachusetts, aged 83. He was buried in Highland Cemetery, Dover, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.[2]
