Harriet Taft Sargent was the daughter of John and Harriet Taft Sargent of Massachusetts and Maine.
John Bancroft Horton and Harriet Taft Sargent, both of Calais, made known their marriage intentions on September 16, 1843 and S.H. Keeler certified that he married them.
Harriet T. Horton died in Calais on February 23, 1848 at 26 years of age per Calais Vital Records. She and John had two children - but only Harriet "Hattie" Horton survived infancy. John then married Cornelia Woolworth Howland.
