Lucy was born to Jonas and Lydia Geer Satterlee , in Preston, New London County, Connecticut, on April 28, 1770.[1][2][3]
Lucy Satterlee married Chester Kimball, in Preston, New London, Connecticut, on Sept. 17, 1790.[4]
Lucy died on April 10, 1841.[1][2]
There seem to be two FindaGrave Memorials for Lucy. I have already suggested a merge.[1][2]Vaughan-3997 21:25, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
In one of Lucy's FindaGrave Memorials, she is identified as "Lucy Ella Satterlee Kimball," and on the other, as "Lucy Satterlee Kimball." On FamilySearch, she is identified as "Lucy Elizabeth Satterlee" (KN3L-BCZ). According to one FAG Memorial, she was allegedly born on "28 May 1770"; according to the other FAG Memorial, on "28 Apr 1770." FamilySearch agrees that she was born on "28 May 1770." All three sources indicate that she died on "10 Apr 1841." One FAG Memorial indicates that she was buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Algonac, St. Clair County, Michigan; the other, in the Allen-Satterlee Cemetery, in Ledyard Center, New London County, Connecticut.[1][2]Vaughan-3997 21:35, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
During the U.S. Census of 1800, two men named "Charles Kimball" and "Charles Kimbel," both between the ages of 26 and 45, were listed as heads of household, in Vermont and South Carolina, respectively. Both lived with one woman, ages 26 to 45 and 16 to 26, respectively. Both, either, or neither of these couples could have been Lucy and her husband.[5][6][7]
During the U.S. Census of 1800, the heads of households are the only people listed by name, with mere tallies of the other "Free White" members of the household, based on gender and age group. Also included are and tallies of "Other Free Persons" and "Slaves," regardless of age and gender.Vaughan-3997 14:41, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
I searched FamilySearch for all records of "Charles Kimble" born between 1760 and 1770, and residing in the U.S.A. in 1800. Two men named "Charles Kimball" were heads of households in Tyringham, Berkshire, Massachusetts and Townshend, Windham, Vermont.Vaughan-3997 14:52, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
The man in Massachusetts was over 45, so he is probably not Lucy's husband, since he was born in 1764, and should have been 36 years old.Vaughan-3997 14:52, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
The man in Vermont was between 26 and 45, and lived with one woman, also between 26 and 45, who could have been Lucy, who was about 30. They had a boy between 10 and 16, who may have been George's elder brother. They also had four girls under 10, one of whom could have been Elisha, who was about 2.Vaughan-3997 14:52, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
A man named "Charles Kimbel," also between the ages of 26 and 45, was a head of household in the Spartanburg District of South Carolina. He lived with three girls - two under the age of 10, and one between 16 and 26. It is possible that Lucy was vain enough to lie about her age, pretending that her age was closer to 25 than 30. It's also possible that one of the girls under 10 was Elisha.Vaughan-3997 15:03, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
No other Charles Kimballs, Kimbles, or Kimbels, etc. are listed for the U.S. Census of 1800, so the claim that such a man was listed on a U.S. Census record for 1800 is probably bogus. I have seen Census records which seem to show the same families in different locations, and people do tend to have summer and winter homes, etc., so it is possible that the Charles Kimball in Vermont is the same man as the Charles Kimbel in South Carolina.[5][6][7]Vaughan-3997 15:03, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
"In 1800 they are shown in the 1800 census living in Canaan, Wayne, Pennsylvania."
I moved the above statement from the Bio to the Research Notes, because this statement lacks a source.Vaughan-3997 14:41, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
"In 1830 the family are living in Henrietta, Monroe, New York, United States CHESTER KIMBALL, Head (b 1764) age 60-69 b between 1761-1770; one female, presumably wife LUCY SATTERLEE (b 1770) age 60-69 b 1761-1770. Living right next door to son Elisha Satterlee Kimball."
I moved the above statement from the Bio to the Research Notes, because it is doubtful that the family in New York is Lucy's family.Vaughan-3997 15:27, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
I searched FamilySearch for all records of "Charles Kimble" born between 1760 and 1770, and residing in the U.S.A. in 1810 and 1830. More than a dozen men named "Charles," with surnames similar to "Kimball" lived in various States, including Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Ohio, and Maine, as well as New York.Vaughan-3997 15:27, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
"Connecticut, Town Marriage Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection) for Chester Kimball, vol 4, p 51, http://www.Ancestry.com
"http://www.Ancestry.com. 1830 United States Federal Census [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc., 2010."
I moved the above "references" from Sources to Research Notes, because they're so poor, and, as noted above, have little bearing on where Lucy resided in 1830.Vaughan-3997 13:25, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
