SACO - Viola Beatrice Roy, 76, died Saturday morning at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. She was born on December 23, 1929 in Calais, a daughter of Edgar F. Saunders and Cora Beatrice Taylor Saunders. She graduated from Calais Academy. In 1947, she moved to Saco with her family. She married Paul R. Roy on October 8, 1949. She had a career as an administrative secretary, retiring from York County Counseling Services in 1992. During retirement, she and her husband spent many winters in Florida. She was an avid golfer, and a member of Dutch Elm Golf Course. She was a Boston Red Sox fan. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul R. Roy, on March 31; one brother; and three sisters. She is survived by three sons: Rick Roy and his wife, Jeanne of Saco, Wayne Roy and his wife, Helen of Saco and Steven Saunders and his wife, Shirley of Arundel; one brother, James F Saunders of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Alex, Michael, Nikki, Jason, Kristy and Melissa; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. ^[1]
