Isolena "Lena" Saunders was born to Benjamin Atwood Saunders and Elizabeth Ann Turtle Lowe Saunders, 28 January 1888, in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.

She married three times:

• 1st to Thomas Augustus Roberts, son of John Roberts Jr. and Elizabeth Augusta Curry Roberts, on 2nd January 1907, at the home of Ralph Roberts, Green Turtle Cay (lasted about 7 years) ~ Lena was widowed in 1914, husband died from Diahrhoea.

• 2nd to Herbert Nelson Key, son of Jeremiah Key and Charity Augusta Key, on 8 June 1920 (lasted about 7 years), husband died from stomach trouble. ~Herbert and Lena Key had a daughter June 11th, 1921, and a son, Albert Woodes Key May 23rd 1925. ~Lena was widowed in 1927

• 3rd to Ernest Cromley Key on December 15th 1927 (lasted about 2 years) husband died from tuberculosis. Ernest & Lena had 1 daughter, October 13th, 1928, which died at the age of 2 on October 10th 1930, from bowel trouble. ~Lena was again widowed December 20th 1930
