He was a Hotel operator to proprietor of Sherman House on Plainfield av near Leonard St. and later of the Baldwin House. In 1898 his wife Fanny objects to bringing up the children in the same building with a saloon. They moved to Abigails house at 131 Leonard St. NE. Fred had 3 horses 2 racers Fred S & Alderman family horse Nell. He then became local mgr for Bell Telephone Co. He held 3 public offices City Alderman and City assessor He was a charter member of the Elks. He and his mother built the first resort cottage at Highland Park, Gs. Haven Mich He (Fred) married Fanny Francesca Sommers born Oct 6 1864 died Oct 10 1928 who was the daughter of Ambrose Sommer. He was born in Germany and came to the US when Fanny was 6 months old in 1865. He had is own Bakery on Plainfield ave marrried Fred Saunders Mar 4 1886 1 daughter of Abigail & Burton Saunders she was older than Fred. name Finette who married Wm McCormick See later on. second son died ? buried in Oakhill Cemetery. Fred Saunders who married Fanny Sommer had 3 sons & 2 daughter + 1 son who died when a baby.
