Biography
Martin Saunders arrived in Boston with his first wife, Rachel, their three children (Leah, Judith and Mary) and three servants on the ship Planter in 1635. At that time, Martin was described as a 40 year old "carrier."
By 1639 Martin had moved to Braintree and was listed as an innkeeper. In later years Martin was listed as a planter with an extensive estate. He served in various civic offices including as a selectman in Braintree.
After Rachel's death in 1651, Martin married Elizabeth, the widow of Roger Bancroft, on May 23, 1654.
Martin died in Braintree on August 4, 1658.
