Biography
Betsy was originally named Betsy Sawyer. She was born when her mother was 19 and unmarried. Betsy was known as Betsy Chandler by 1861 indicating that William was her father or he had adopted her.
In the 1851 census Betsy (age 0) was the granddaughter of George Sawyer in Low Graffham, Graffham, St Neots, Huntingdonshire & Cambridgeshire, England.[1]
