Biography

Birth
John Sayler aka Seiler [the original Swiss/German spelling] was born 6 May 1738, Lebanon, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania the son of German Baptist Mennonites Daniel Seiler aka Sayler and wife Anna. [1] John is named in his father's Will as one of the two eldest son's, brother Christian being the other. After the birth of their children Daniel and Anna Seiler relocated to Beaverdam, Frederick county, Maryland where they remained the rest of their lives. Beaverdam is located north of Baltimore near the Pennsylvania southern border. Lancaster, Pennsylvania is close by. John Sayler is mentioned in his father's Will as having together with his brother Christian purchased Daniel's home farm in Lancaster county upon their parents removal to Maryland. [1]

Marriage and Children
John Sayler possibly married Franny, daughter of the Felix Landis, Jr. But, the indexed Mennonite records for the Felix Landis, Jr. family do not include the name Franny aka Fronica amongst their children. Because of this lack of primary sourced record trail Franny's birth name has not been confirmed.

Based upon his March 2, 1782 Will [2][3] and from the Mennonite records generated during their lifetime he and Franny had eight children:

2a John Sayler Jr – died 1786
2b Peter Sayler
2c Jacob Sayler
2d Henry Sayler
2e Anna Barbara
2f Eve Catherine (2f &2g possibly twins)
2g Catherine
2h Suzanna – she was not named in the will but had just been married, and probably received her dowry.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Great work Richard! The update is excellent.

Seiler-375 and Sayler-70 appear to represent the same person because: There is a whole duplicate family of which John is just a part. Just different spelling of surname.
