Biography

If anyone can provide more information to this profile, please let me know.

I have found very little material that can be cited in my research on her and her parents, John Jacob Schauwecker and Catherine Werne.

There is an interesting dynamic to Louisa's life. She and Henry had a Daughter, Mary Malinda Smith. Mary married Clifford Theodore Cooprider, the son of Simeon Cornelius Cooprider. Simeon and Louisa were later married in 1887.

Her gravestone lists her name as Lovia. Census records show her as Louisa.

According to JL Cooprider's first edition, Simeon was a farmer north of Clay City.

According to Owen Arthur Kline, his grandson, on 19 November, 2000, Simeon lived on a small farm of about 72 acres just outside the northern city limits of Clay City. They lived in a four room frame house, in which Owen was born. Some years later they built a brick house with eight rooms on the same farm. They had a large barn. They had horses and plows, gang plows, with two teams of horses dragging a two ro three bladed plow.

Lovisa, his second wife, had a growth on her shoulder from her youth, age 17. It was accidentally broken open and it proved to be cancerous and was with issue until she was about 78 years old. Owen remembers going to Simeon's funeral. He had a long white beard. It amazed Owen how Simeon got food down his mouth.

Simeon died when Owen was eight years of age. Lovisa died when he was 13.

Owen remembers harvesting horseradishes and grinding them at their home. Lilian, Uncle Clarence's daughter lived with Simeon and Louisa. Lilian and Owen's brothers and sisters, Earl and Mattie and Euglean all played in the hayloft at the barn.

When Louisa's health failed and she was no longer able to care for herself, she went to live with her daughter Maime. Her son, Clarence became alienated from the rest of the family due to the disposition of the possessions. Maime got all of the photos, dishes, etc.
