Jan Jan R. "John" Schenck was born 19 June 1752 in Pleasant Valley, Monmouth, New Jersey. He died 12 February 1829 in Butler, Ohio.

Son of Jan Janse Schenck (1722–1808) and Neeltje Johannesburg “Eleanor" Bennet (1728–1810).
