Biography

Roelof Schenck was born on February 21, 1692, in Flatlands, New York, to Jan Schenck and Saartje Willemse (Sarah) Van Couwenhoven. He married Geesje Hendrickson in 1714 in his hometown. They had 11 children in 16 years. He died on January 19, 1766, in Pleasant Valley, New Jersey, at the age of 73, and was buried there.

• Tombstone inscription reads: "Here Lies Interred the Body of Roelof Schenck,

Son of John, who Departed this Life the Nineteenth of January in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty-six, aged Seventy-three Years, Ten Months and Twenty-eight Days."^[5]
