The 1800 U.S. Census recorded Cornelius L. Schermerhorn in Schodack, New York. His nine-person household consisted of eight free white persons: one male age 26 to 44 (Cornelius), a female in the same age range, one male age 16 to 25, two males age 10 to 15, and three females under age 10; plus one slave.[4] In 1810 the Schodack household of Cornelius L. Schermerhorn was enumerated with nine free white persons and one slave. The white persons were one male age 45 and above, one female 26 to 44, one male and one female 16 to 25, one male and two females 10 to 15, and two females under 10.[5]
