Ariaantje was a daughter and the oldest child of Jan Ryerse Schermerhorn and Engeltie Vrooman, baptized in Schenectady, New York on 21 June 1712. She was married to Nicholas de Graaf.[1]
Her father made his will on 28 October 1752. In the will, he mentioned his daughter Ariantie, wife of Claas de Groff, and left her 100 Pounds. [2]
She is not mentioned in the will of her husband, written 28 December 1790, so she is assumed to have died before that date. [3]
Nicolaas, son of Jesse, of the Hoek, m. Ariaantje, dau. of Johannes Scher- merhorn. He made his will Dec. 28, 1790, proved Jan. 18, 1797; wife not mentioned, but sons Jesse and Johannes, and dau. Anneke, widow of Gerrit Veeder, and her ch. Wilhelmus, Nicolaas and Catharine. Ch. bp : Jesse, Oct. 23, 1743; Engeltie, Oct. 14, 1746; Engeltie, Feb. 25, 1750; Alida, April 5, 1752; Johannes, Sept. 3, 1754; Anneke , m. Gerrit Veeder. [4]
