Emil Jakob was born in 1842 to Julius Jakob Schindler (1814–1846) and Maria Anna, née Penz (1816-1886).[1]
In 1860 Schindler entered the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, where he studied with Albert Zimmermann and found inspiration with the Dutch Masters.[1] He later became a celebrated landscape painter.
He married Anna Sophie Bergen on 4 Feb 1879 in Vienna. They had two daughters:[2]
He passed away in 1892 in Westerland on the German Island of Sylt and was buried at Vienna Zentralfriedhof, Austria.[4]
