Valentine and his wife came to Perry in 1801 and purchased land at present Markelsville.They built a stone house in 1809 which is occupied in 1912 by a descendant.They had seven children.A daughter Margaret was taken by Indians.

Valentine was born about 1756. Valentine Smith ... He passed away in 1828. His will probated 24 Nov 1828 names the following children:

  3. Ann Smith Powell and husband John
  4. Catherine Smith Bealer and husband John
  5. Martha Smith Kyler
  6. Elizabeth Smith Pollock and husband James
  7. David Smith

Schmidt-9921 and Schmidt-1084 are not ready to be merged because: Maybe these represent the same person, but there's no evidence that they do (different spouse, different children) and the name is sufficiently common that it's very likely they are different people. More sources would help a lot!
