Biography

Frank was born in Morton County, North Dakota, the son of Rudolph and Margaretha Schmidt. He grew up on the family farm in Morton County.^[1][2]

Frank served in the army during World War II, and was wounded in France on October 6, 1944. He spent four months in the Army hospital in Naples, Italy, and was awarded the Purple Heart.^[3] He married Renee Baldwin in Vancouver, Washington, after the war.^[4] They are the parents of two children.

He worked as a barber and later as a mail carrier for 30 years. He died in Vancouver, Washington, at age 90.^[5]
