Per Mildred Smith Heffley, Philip Henry Smith left home/Buffalo at age 18. Settled in New Jersey.^[1][2]

He married first, about 1905, probably in Hoboken, New Jersey, Vera Alita Leonard (1884-Nov 1915) by whom he had:

1. Philip Leonard Smith, b 19 Sep 1906; d 13 Nov 1990; m1 Erma Unknown (one child, deceased); m2 Alice Barbara Becker 23 Nov 1940 by whom he had two sons, living.
2. Norman Valiant Smith b 15 Mar 1912, d July 1986; m abt 1935 Phyllis Brown. He was a photographer
3. Ira Smith b 8 Nov 1915; d 12 Jul 1992 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; m1 abt 1939 Cecilia Staples; m2 in San Juan, Puerto Rico 4 Jul 1947 Doris Stevenson (1912-1979) by whom he had a daughter, living. Painter (and inn keeper?).
