Herman Schmidt ... He passed away suddenly at Rama Road, Kaupokonui in 1906.at the age of 34.
He died from cardiac disease.

Came second place for the largest exhibited Rhubarb at the sixth annual Waimate Horticultural, Agricultural & Pastoral Society Show (17 Feb 1904) [1].
Extreme weather and bush fires in March 1904 saw the Schmidt homestead on Rama Road damaged and Herman was injured becoming unconscious having to be evacuated to Otakeho[2][3][4].
His father was Richard Schmidt from Tasmania
