Biography

Edward Schmidt was born in Ballarat, Victoria to George and Elizabeth Schmidt in 1878[1]

Edward married Alice May Moyle in Boulder Western Australia in April 1912.

Wedding Bells.
SCHMIDT - MOYLE.
The Queen St. Methodist Church, Boulder, was on the 3rd inst. the scene of a quiet but very pretty wedding, the contracting parties being Mr. E. Schmidt, son of the late Sir. Geo. Schmidt, of Ballarat, and Mrs. Schmidt, of Menzics, and Miss Alice Moyle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Moyle, of Richardson St., Boulder, and brother of Mr. Jas. Moyle of Collie. The bride, who was given away by her paternal parent, looked charming in a dress of white silk artistically trimmed with Oriental lace and insertion. The customary wreath and veil were worn, and a handsome shower bouquet carried. The bridesmaids were Miss Ida Eddy, of Boulder, who looked very pretty in a dress of cream voile trimmed with lace and insertion, and Miss Bessie Firmin, niece of the bridegroom, who was becomingly attired in a dainty dress of white muslin, with ribbon trimmings. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. J. Moyle, of Collie. The nuptial knot was tied by the Superintendent of the Circuit, Rev. W. Bray. The happy couplr, who were besieged with showers of rice and good wishes, were photographed prior to repairing, with the -guests, to the residence of the bride's parents, where a recherche wedding breakfast partaken of, and the customary toasts honoured.
Telegrams of congratulation wore received from friendsat Ballarat (Vic.), Mouma (N.S.W.) and Menzies. The newly-married couple left by the express for Perth and Collie, where the honeymoon is being spent.
The bride's travelling dress was ot mole cashmere with silver gray trimmings, hat en suite. The happy couple were the recipients of numerous and valuable presents. The bride's gift to the gridegroom was a shaving outfit, and the bridegroom's gift to the bride a gold muff chain, and to the bridesmaids a gold bangle and chain cross.
