As a nine year old, sailed with his parents on the Ship Harle from Holland / England to Philadelphia in 1736. See his father's profile for more details about the crossing.
A Mennonite farmer, he eventually came into the possession of the Family Bible, presumably following the death of his father - Johannes. He passed the Bible onto his son, Jacob (Old Yoch), as he left for Upper Canada in 1806.

Sources
dates and locations from Family Bible. There are other sources that have the incorrect birthplace of Pfalz, Germany, and other incorrect information, including in Ezra Eby's book. Eby translated the German entries in the Bible in the 1890s, but it must have been after 1896 when Eby released his book with the incorrect information about Jacob B.
Berger-Knorr, Lawrence, The Relations of Milton Snavely Hershey, 3rd ed., Sunbury Press, New Kingstown, PA, 2005. Available at Google Books [1], page 11, accessed 7 February 2020. This source also records marriage and some personal information of Jacob. It also states the middle initial of "B" stands for "Bauman", the maiden name of Jacob's mother.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacob:
Snyder-5304 and Schneider-125 appear to represent the same person because: Same name and dates. Your birthplace of Pfalz does not match mine of Holland. I am a direct descendent and have source material in the form of a Family Bible that confirms the birthplace as Holland and name of Schneider. The name changes to Snyder in later generations. This is my 8th generation great grandfather. I have that he was born April 2nd and died April 9th, 1803 in Pennsylvania. I'm guessing Lancaster because that is where most of his children were born.
