Biography

John Leroy Schoonover was born on 22 Jan. 1854[1] at Troupsburg, Steuben Co., New York, USA. He appeared on the census of 24 July 1860 in the household of his parents, Frederick C. Schoonover and Lois Ann (Stewart), at Troupsburg, Steuben Co., New York.[2] He appeared on the census of 23 July 1870 in the household of his parents at Woodhull, Steuben Co., New York.[3] He appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 at Troupsburgh, Steuben County, New York, he and Mary L Hults were living together. They were both single and Mary was identified as a housekeeper and cousin.[4]

He married Mary L. (Gardner) (aka Hults)[1][5] circa 1880 at Troupsburg, Steuben Co., New York, USA.

He was a blacksmith when he and Mary appeared on the census of 19 June 1900 at Troupsburg, Steuben Co., New York.[6] He was a blacksmith with his own shop when he and Mary appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 at Bingham, Potter Co., Pennsylvania.[7]

He married Nora Finch on 3 Nov. 1912. [1]

He was a blacksmith with his own shop in 1920 when he and Nora appeared on the census of 21 Jan 1920 in the household of his son, Mansel William Schoonover and daughter-in-law, Minnie (Gee) Schoonover, at Bingham, Potter Co., Pennsylvania.[8]

He died on 8 Aug 1926 at age 72.[1]
