'Nelson Joseph Shoults was born December 14, 1872, in Steeleville, Crawford county, Missouri, a the son of Charles Harmon Shoults and Margaret (Barnett) Shoults. [1]
Nelson Joseph married Clara Becker on 26 February 1892 in Midland, Crawford Co., MO. [2] Nelson worked the Iron Mines at Cherry Valley, where two of Clara's brothers, Frederich Alfred Becker and Otto Breatono Becker, died in a mining accident on April 2, 1908.
Clara and Nelson had 5 children, all born in Cherry Valley, Crawford County, Missouri:
Ralph E. Shoults, born April 15, 1899, married Sarah Virginia Licklider (1900-1981)
Charles Raymond Shoults, Sr. born September 2, 1901, Married Essie Ellen Brady, the niece of Sarah Licklider that married his brother, Ralph;
Izear Nathaniel "Sandy" Shoults, born August 1, 1903;
Harmon T. Shoults, born October 7, 1907, named for Nelson's father, Charles Harmon Shoults, married Nellie May Rothlisberger (1918-1997);
Leonard Bernard Shoults, born December 2, 1914
Nelson and his family are found on the United States census of 1910, living in Courtois, Crawford county, Missouri. [3]
Nelson died March 20, 1956, at the Cedar Grove Home in Hillsboro, Jefferson Co., MO. and is buried in Fairview Methodist Cemetery, Lonedell, Franklin County, Missouri. [4] Clara Shoults is buried in Cherry Valley cemetery in Crawford County, Missouri.
