Biography

Franciska was born 18 Feb 1855 in Kapfelberg, Bavaria. Jakob Jozef Kolb had returned to the village after the death in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, USA of his first wife. [1] She accompanied him back to the U.S. and Beaver Dam, arriving 11 June 1867. She is listed on the manifest of the ship Western Metropolis as his wife. [2] They were married in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA on 27 Nov 1876.[3] She passed away at her home at 442 Madison Street on 22 August 1922.[4]

OBITUARY[5][4]

DIED - KOLB - In Milwaukee, Wis., at 7:00 o'clock Sunday evening, January 15th, 1922, Mrs. Frances Kolb, aged 66 years, 9 months and 12 days.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Frances Schweiger, was the widow of the late Jacob Kolb, who passed away in this city on Dec. 29, 1888. She was born at Kelheim, Germany, on April 3, 1855, and came to this country when sixteen years of age to make her home with her aunt, Mrs. Eisenreich, in this city.
On Nov. 20th, 1876, she was united in marriage to Jacob Kolb. Seven children were born to this union, one of whom, John, died a few months ago at Janesville as the result of injuries received while engaged in moving a garage. The mother's death, which resulted from pneumonia, is thought to have been hastened by this shock.
The surviving children are: Joseph of Chicago; Jacob, Madison; Andrew of this city; Mrs. J. L. Eckery, Lincoln, Nebr.; Mrs. Jos. St. Peter, Oak Park, Ill.; and Elizabeth Kolb of Janesville. There are also sixteen grandchildren surviving.
The remains were brought to the home of her son Andrew, 301 S. Division St., and funeral services were held at St. Peter's church at 9:00 yesterday morning. Burial was in St. Peter's cemetery, the services being in charge of Rev. Fr. Geo. N. Muenzer.
