Elaine (Schwartzenburg) Edwards is Notable.

Elaine Schwartzenburg, first wife of Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards, was born 8 March 1929 in Marksville, Louisiana to Errol Leo Schwartzenburg and Myrl Dupuy. She was counted on the census with them and Frank, her older brother, in Port Arthur, Texas in 1930,^[1] and in back in Marksville, Louisiana in 1940, with a younger brother, Ralph, as well.^[2]

She married Edwin Edwards in 1949.^[3] Four children were born to the marriage.

As First Lady of Louisiana she was appointed by her husband to replace the late Senator Allen Ellender for the last few months of his term in the US Senate in 1972.^[3]

Elaine Edwards died on May 14, 2018, at her daughter's home in Denham Springs, Louisiana, and was buried at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.^[3][4]
