Biography

Origin

Mary was born c. 1678 at Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, a daughter of Daniel Scofield.[2] and Abigail Merwin.

Birth date 1670 is a guess, based on the births of her two husbands, who were born in 1668 and 1678 and the birth of her first child in 1695.

Marriages and Children

Mary married twice.

As her first husband, she married to Jonas Weed, born 5 Feb. 1667/8.[2] in 1695.[3] (A merged profile gave April 5, 1695 as the marriage date.[citation needed]) Jonas Weed died on 20 November 1706.[2] The inventory for his estate was taken on 8 Jan 1706/7.[2] His widow, Mary, and Samuel Weed were to administer. She married on 31 December 1707 in Stamford, Connecticut, as her 2d, and as his 2d, to Samuel Hoyt, b July 3, 1678, son of Joshua and Mary Hoyt or Hait.[2][1] Samuel Hoyt had married, as his 1st, on Oct 24, 1700, as his 1st, Susanna Slason/Slawson who died on 26 March 1706/7.[1][2] [4][5][3] Samuel and Susanna had four children: Josiah, Abigail, Rebecca, and Susanna.[1] Many records have surname as "Samuel (Smith) Hait, Jr" surname spelled "Hait."[6] He was a Blacksmith.[6] Husband Samuel Hoyt died on 10 August 1738 at Stamford.[2] His property was divided among his widow, Mary, and his nine living children.[1]

This profile is well documented, so I'll comment on Scofield-5 - OK? Thanks!

Why is Scofield-5 a rejected match? The marriage to Mead says its questionable but there would only be one child named Mary?
