DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

Assuming there are no objections, I plan to update the narrative to remove reference to her husband as the son of Nicholas Patch. --Gene

Have posted comments on profiles of both William Patch (Patch-22) and James Patch (Patch-23) seeking to sever their parent-child associations so they can be attached to Thomas Patch and his wife, Mary Lovett, of Beverly

Cross posting here a proposal placed on the profile of his now linked father, Nicholas Patch. If you feel particular historical records have been overlooked in making this proposal, please comment so that we may collaborate further.

Thank you for supporting WikiTree.--Gene

This is a proposal to sever the association of PGM Nicholas Patch and his now linked son, "Sgt. Thomas Patch (Patch-46), died Wenham, 19 February 1721, married Mary Scott of Ipswich, daughter of PGM Thomas Scott. Then to attach/associate as Nicholas' son, Thomas Patch, Sr. (Patch-950), died Beverly, 28 September 1711, married Mary Lovett of Beverly, daughter of PGM John Lovett, Sr..

The two men, both Thomas Patch, are frequently conflated in print and by family researchers, but they were different men, who lived in different towns and died on different dates.
Much of the confusion can be traced to the 1917 "Patch" genealogy published in NEHGR 71 (1917):169, 170, wherein the compilers suggested the estate of PGM Edmund Patch was initially administered by his "nephew" Thomas Patch, writing, "probably the Thomas who was s. of Nicholas ... [sic], the word 'nephew' therefore in this case signifying cousin."
This is technically an oversight, as in the published record Edmund Patch's estate (3:395-398), Edmund is referred to as the "uncle" of Thomas Patch, administrator (not to Thomas, a nephew).
Edmund Patch was an early immigrant to Massachusetts Bay. Sidney Perley (History of Salem 2:70n-71n) mistakenly called him the brother of immigrant Nicholas Patch, writing further that Edmund "lived in the Wenham Part of Salem, and removed to Ipswich about 1660 ... died in Ipswich Nov. 10, 1680."
Thomas Patch of Wenham, whose uncle was Edmund, may have been a second or more distant cousin of Thomas Patch of Salem and Beverly. Noteworthy, while Nicholas Patch's son, Thomas, was born at Massachusetts Bay, Thomas Patch of Wenham is said to have arrived at Essex County "some years" after 1657.
Historical support for the latter claim is found in Essex Institute Historical Collections, 4 (1862):25-27 (estate of Thomas Scott, 2 mo. 1684); digital images, Hathi Trust, as described below.
Thomas^2 Scott, Jr. of Ipswich died there in 1657; administration of his estate was granted to the widow. Twenty-five years later, in 1683, "Thomas Patch, Elizabeth Spofford and Abigail Barsworth,"* petitioned the court about the administration of the estate of "or deare Brother Thomas Scott of Ipswich." In response to their petition, Martha Rogers testified that Thomas Patch "never saw the face of s'd Thomas Scott, for he died some years before the s'd Patch came into this county, and was never related to him. Signed by Martha Rogers, for herself and her Brothers."
Lovett-Patch. Thomas' father, Nicholas Patch, and Mary's father, John Lovett, were both received as inhabitants of Salem at the same town meeting, 25 July 1639, At that time, both were granted land "neere Macrell Cove" (Town records of Salem, Massachusetts 1:89-90). Nicholas Patch "lived at Mackerel Cove, in the Beverly part of Salem" (History of Salem 2:70n-71n). In 1673, "John Lovet. Senr" was a witness to the agreement between brothers John Patch and Thomas Patch for the division of their father's estate. See Essex (Mass.) Deeds, 4:47. In his 1686 will, John Lovett, Sr. called his daughter Mary Patch, and referred to Thomas Patch as his son, writing, "my sonnes Jno and Joseph Lovet Thomas Patch and George Standley shall during [his wife Mary's] widdowhood find her with wood cut convenient for her and delivered at her door ..."
-----
[*]"Mary, the wife of Thomas Patch, and Abigail Bosworth and Elizabeth Spafford, are all of them the reputed daughters of Thomas Scott, Senor, of Ipswich, deceased; and sisters to Thomas Scott, Junor, deceased, of Ipswich." (page 25) Note--Records and Files quotes this as (emphasis added) "For ... Thomas Scot their dear Brother late of Ipswich (i.e. about 27 or 28 years agoe) it is subscribed but by two hands as one of them never saw ye face of ye sd Scot, he being some yeares dead before ever Tho. Patch came into this country // and was never related to him // ..." (See 9:226.}
