Thomas Scott born approximately 1638 was the only son and heir of Edward Scott and his wife Catherine Goring [1] noted of Scot's Hall and Nettlested / Nettlestead, Kent
He was knighted in 1663 and married Catherine Carteret the same year. (Mentioned in Pepys' Diaries [2] and the Diary of John Evelyn August 2, 1663)

Pepys in his diaries claimed that Thomas was the bastard son of Prince Rupert of the Rhine, as did John Evelyn [4]. However Edward acknowleged Thomas as his lawful son [5]
