Aug 1836 Illinois d. after 1900, probably in Omaha, Douglas co. Nebraska. They moved from Illinois around 1867 and was never heard from by her family again. Her brother Henry Clay Strange "remembered his mother, Nancy, crying as though her heart would break when Mary & family left. They never heard from them again" (from notes by Irma Wood). Nancy died in 1867, very shortly after they must have left. The family was in the 1870 census in Daviess co. Missouri. They do not seem to be in the 1880 census, but Alexander is alive in 1900, a widower, in Omaha, Nebraska, living with a daughter and her husband (who, incidentally, IS in the 1880 census, still married to his first wife, and living in Daviess county Missouri, next door to children of Alexander Scott). Judging by the grandchildren's dates and places of birth, the family seems to have gone to Beatrice, Gage co. Nebraska around 1880, was in Mankato, Jewell co. Kansas from about 1884 to 1888, and then back to Nebraska again. Henry Clay- b. 26 Aug 1844 Waynesville township, Dewitt co.
