At the time of Charles' son, James Scott's birth, (August 11th 1875), Charles was a farm laborer, ploughman. He resided at Shevado, New Deer, Scotland. Shevado was on the Estate of Artamford, which was owned by William Dingwall Fordyce Esq. of Brucklay Estate.

James Scott's Birth Certificate extract provides the information concerning Charles Scott's residency in Shevado, New Deer, &, that his occupation at the time of his son's birth was that of a ploughman.
